The F Word that everyone is afraid of – big fat FAILURE!
or is its the R Word – Risk
or better yet REJECTION
Maybe its a not so pleasant combination of all THREE.
That has had everyone one at one time or another feeling
sick or stressed out.
I have felt this way and I bet you have to.
We start a new project or business. We are flipping excited about
what we have to offer our potential clients, friends and family.
BAM – that little voice creeps his little ass in with thoughts like
—-> What if my friends don’t take me seriously
—-> My family NEVER buys anything from me
—-> I wasn’t successful last time so why would I be this time?
—-> I don’t know anyone
—-> I’m not a sales person
—-> I don’t have enough time
—-> I’ll wait to take action until I know everything there is to know
—-> What if they get mad at me because I want to sell them something
—-> What if I never close a sale
What IF What IF What IF What IF….
To be honest I could make a huge mac daddy list a mile long of all the
EXCUSES I have told myself and have been told over my past 11 years as a business owner/ entrepreneur.
So I’m here to share MY secrets with you.
The secret sauce that helped me push though the tears & fears
Little secret I have been known to cry at the event of needed to make phone calls for business.
I know right Kristen the business bad ass – crying. Yep – I would stress out so much about the WHAT IFS that I would worry, panic and lock my self in a bathroom to avoid doing work.
What I did to go from mediocrity to :
- Speaking on stage all the time and one time even to 10,000 people+
- Launching our Own Brand (wealthunchained.com)
- Pre launching Empire Unchained our Forex Education Company
- Coaching MLM Clients
- Speaking with strangers
- Taking control of my own actions
- Hitting the stage 2x in a freaking bikini
- Mentoring others
- Running my own fitness bootcamp franchise location for 2 years
- Hitting the top of a comp plan in a MLM business and making 1,000,000+ in just over 3yrs
- Being a full time entrepreneur for 7 years
Brace yourself… the golden nuggets are about to drop ;)
The CORE beliefs I had to embrace.
I told myself I had to STOP relying on everyone else.
I had to stop relying on my husband (boyfriend at the time) to make the calls for me,
I had to stop relying on my upline to close the sale for me.
As the old saying goes “Feel the fear and do it anyway” I found that
The less time I allowed for fear to set in by taking action immediately
the easier it was
And last but not least – I am always 100% honest. If I call someone for business,
and I am freaking out. I will tell them. I will just get it off my chest. (I will say – okay Jill I have to be honest I was nervous to make this call…”
100% of the time the response is – “Kristen you don’t need to be afraid to call me”
I cannot tell you how it takes the pressure off to just get it off my chest.
I also never call people who I do NOT want to do business with just to make a sale. Its not in my nature and thus allows me to work with really amazing people.
Even though I still get told NO – I still lose a sale. Having my mindset right makes the blow that much less. I take it much less personally and I move on to the next.
Entrepreneurship its about taking ownership and responsibility for your actions and your results. We must look at our personal actions before we go anywhere else. Because 100% of the power lies with in us to make a change.
I was recently on a call with an amazing industry peer names Erin – she told me a quote
“When you tell a true story you can’t be wrong”
Its how I share, its how I sell, its how I create relationships.
Through trust and integrity. And I suggest you do to.
Fake it till you make it – In my opinion is total bull shit and ego.
I really do hope that my transparency here can show you that not everyone is the super hero we make them out to be, that even know they may stand on a stage or make the big bucks – they had to go through some crap – they had to grow.
While the fear may never go away. The winners never allow it to get in the way.
